Rituals to begin with

• The everyday ritual

  A fragrant cleanse and a rich cream: five unhurried minutes, morning or night.

  1. Mix a pinch of Sugandhi Ubtan with two to four drops of oil and a little water, and use it like a face wash.
  2. Rinse with cool water.
  3. Mist with rose water, if you like, and massage in a little Multipurpose Beauty Cream.

  For oily skin, mix the ubtan with honey, curd or raw milk instead.

• The weekend face ritual

  Fresh nuts and seeds, woken with a pinch of yeast, for a quiet half hour.

  1. Bloom a tiny pinch of yeast in ½ teaspoon of warm water for 2 minutes.
  2. Mix in ½ teaspoon of the Nuts Magic Face Pack and smooth it on for 10–15 minutes.
  3. Dab on a little water, massage gently in upward strokes and rinse.
  4. Finish with a little Multipurpose Beauty Cream.

• The unhurried face ritual

  The ubtan as a soft face pack, rested and fragrant, then a rich cream.

  1. Mix a little Sugandhi Ubtan with rose water and a few drops of oil, or milk cream and honey, and let it rest for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Apply an even layer and leave it on for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Rinse with cool water.
  4. Finish with a little Multipurpose Beauty Cream.

• The everyday bath

  The ubtan in place of soap, and a little cream after.

  1. Mix a spoonful of Sugandhi Ubtan with a little water and a few drops of oil into a soft paste.
  2. Smooth it over damp skin and massage gently.
  3. Rinse; there’s no need for soap.
  4. Massage a little Multipurpose Beauty Cream into your skin.

  Warm oil, a fragrant polish and a long, slow bath: the traditional way.

  1. Massage warm sesame oil into your skin.
  2. Smooth the Sugandhi Ubtan over the oil and polish gently.
  3. Rinse with lukewarm water, with no need for soap.
  4. Finish with a little Multipurpose Beauty Cream.

• The evening champi

  A warm oil massage to end the day, the classical way.

  1. Comb your hair through for a few minutes.
  2. Warm 1–2 teaspoons of VataJattadi Hair Oil over hot water.
  3. Massage it into your scalp for 15–20 minutes.
  4. Wrap your head in a hot, well-wrung towel for a minute or two, and leave the oil on overnight.

• The overnight hair ritual

  Warm oil at night, a fresh herbal mask in the morning: a hair spa at home.

  1. At night, warm the VataJattadi Hair Oil and massage it into your scalp for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Leave it on overnight.
  3. In the morning, smooth on the Herbal Hair Mask, cover with a shower cap and leave it for about an hour.
  4. Rinse with plain water, and shampoo the next day.

• The complete ritual

  A slow weekend for face, body and hair.

  1. On Saturday night, a warm champi with the VataJattadi Hair Oil.
  2. On Sunday morning, the Herbal Hair Mask, for about an hour.
  3. Meanwhile, the weekly abhyanga with the Sugandhi Ubtan.
  4. Finish with the Multipurpose Beauty Cream.
